Sun Trolley to Transport Local Veterans to Tap 42 for Historical Veterans Day Event

Fort Lauderdale, FL (November 9, 2016) – Veterans Day honors and celebrates the men and women who have served our country to preserve our freedom. On Thursday, November 10, 2016, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., everyone is invited to Fort Lauderdale’s Tap 42 to celebrate our local veterans, in style! The event will feature traditional backyard BBQ cuisine, craft beer, patriotic cocktails, DJ Supersede, and guest appearances.

“Our main goal is to collaborate with our community partners and bring people together to host one of the most unique Veterans Daycelebrations in the history of Broward County,” said Ryan Paton of Honor Flight South Florida.

Honor Flight South Florida, Tap 42, the Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO), the Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders, and the Sun Trolley, are all joining forces to produce this Veterans Day celebration event.

Fort Lauderdale’s iconic red and yellow Sun Trolley, escorted by officers from name of agency here, will transport veterans to Tap 42 for the event.

“It’s a true honor to have the Sun Trolley participating in this event,” said Robyn Chiarelli, Executive Director of the Sun Trolley. “Our goal is to positively impact our community by providing transportation resources to those who need them the most, as well as to those who opt for a more sustainable way to travel.”

Veterans who served during World War II, the Korean War, Vietnam War, Gulf War , the Iraq War and the war in Afghanistan will all arrive as one unit via the Sun Trolley and receive a true hero’s welcome.

“We envision the veterans police escorted arrival to mimic the Honor Flight airport homecomings, but with a trolley instead,” said Paton. “It’s all about honoring the dedication of our veterans and transporting them there in style!”

The event is open to the public and free for veterans. Non-veterans may participate with a $20 donation to Honor Flight South Florida at the entrance. Each guest will be able to dine at the buffet and receive two drink tickets.

All of the event proceeds will support Honor Flight South Florida, which is a local nonprofit organization focused on one goal; to transport America’s veterans to Washington, D.C. to visit memorials dedicated to honor their service and sacrifices at zero cost to the veterans.
